Free Pattern - Ribbon Delight Bookmark



This beautiful but super easy bookmark is ideal for gift giving - especially when paired with a book. Super elegant with a pretty ribbon center to add detail and charm. Work up one for yourself while you're at it!

Materials:
1 sm ball 100% cotton thread, size 10
Steel crochet hook, size 8 USA (1.50 mm)

Finishing Materials:
1/3-yd ribbon ( ¼” wide)
Glue

Finished Size: 7 ½" L x 2" W
Gauge: 2 rows = ½" / 6 dc = ½"

Bookmark:

Row 1) Ch 18; dc in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped counts as first dc), dc in ea ch across: 16 dc.

Row 2) Ch 2, turn work; dc in next 6 dc, ch 2, sk next 2 dc, dc in last 7 dc: 14 dc/1 ch 2-sp.

Row 3) Ch 2, turn work; dc in next 3 dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, sk 2 dc, dc in last 4 dc: 10 dc/3 ch 2-sps.

Row 4) Ch 2, turn work; dc in next 3 dc, (ch 2, dc in next dc) 3 times, dc in last 3 dc: 10 dc/3 ch 2-sps.

Rows 5-6) Rep row 4.

Row 7) Ch 2, turn work; dc in next 3 dc, (2 dc) in next sp, dc in next dc, ch 2, dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next sp, dc in last 4 dc: 14 dc/1 ch 2-sp.

Rows 8-27) Rep rows 3-7 respectively.

Row 28) Ch 2, turn work; dc in next 6 dc, (2 dc) in next sp, dc in last 7 dc: 16 dc. (Do not end off).

Edging:

Ch 8; dc in same st; * (working down length of bookmark), (ch 3, sc in next row, ch 3, dc in next row) 14 times, ch 5, dc in same st, (working across end), ch 3, sk 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk 2 dc, dc in next 5 dc, ch 3, sk 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 3, sk 2 dc;* dc in next dc, ch 5, dc in same st; rep from * to * once; join with a sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch 8. Fasten off, secure ends.

Finishing:

Lightly spray bookmark with water or spray starch if used, cover with a handkerchief and press using a cool iron setting. Weave ribbon through center starting from top open mesh at center of bookmark, leaving a tail at bottom of bookmark. Clip ribbon and glue in place at each end of bookmark to secure. With remaining ribbon, tie a bow and glue to top center of bookmark.
