Materials:

Sm amt DMC Baroque size 10

Steel crochet hook, size 8 USA (1.50 mm)

Finished Size: 4 ½" dia x 5 ½" T

Gauge: 2 shell rows = 1 ¼"

Skill Level: Easy - Intermediate

Special Stitches:

Beg Double Shell: (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Double Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Beg Shell: (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Butterfly:

Rnd 1) Starting at center of butterfly: Ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4): 12 dc.

Rnd 2) Beg double shell in joining see special sts, sk next 2 dc; * double shell in next dc see special sts, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 4 double shells.

Rnd 3) Sl st in first ch 2 sp of double shell; beg shell in same sp see special sts, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell see special sts; * shell in next ch 2 sp of next double shell, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 8 shells/4 ch 3-sps. Fasten off; secure ends

Lg Wing:

Row 4) Working off each wing separately: join thread to next unworked shell sp before a ch 3 sp with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, shell in 2nd ch of next sp (center ch), shell in next shell sp: 3 shells.

Row 5) Ch 5, turn work, shell in next shell sp, ch 3, dc in next shell sp, (ch 1, dc) twice in same shell sp, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 beg pineapple with 3 dc & 2 ch 1-sps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 6) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 sp) twice, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 1 ch 3-lp/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 7) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, sk next ch 3 sp, ch 3, sc in next ch 3 lp, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 8) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, ch 2, sc in next sc, ch 2, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple/2 ch 2-sps.

Row 9) Ch 5, turn work; (shell in next shell sp) twice: 2 shells/1 pineapple.

Row 10) Ch 5, turn work; (2 dc in next shell sp) twice: 4 dc/1 complete pineapple. Fasten off; secure ends.

Sm Wing:

Row 4) Join thread to next unworked shell sp from last lg wing worked with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, shell in 2nd ch of next sp (center ch), shell in next shell sp: 3 shells.

Row 5) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, ch 2, (dc, ch 1, dc) in next shell sp, ch 2, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 beg pineapple with 2 dc & 1 ch 1-sp/2 ch 2-sps.

Row 6) Ch 5, turn work; shell in next shell sp, ch 2, sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 2, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple/2 ch 2-sps.

Row 7) Ch 5, turn work; (shell in next shell sp) twice: 2 shells/1 pineapple.

Row 8) Ch 5, turn work; (2 dc in next shell sp) twice: 4 dc/1 complete pineapple. Fasten off; secure ends.

Next Sm Wing:

Row 4) Join thread to next unworked shell sp from last sm wing worked with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, shell in 2nd ch of next sp (center ch), shell in next shell sp: 3 shells.

Rows 5-8) Rep rows 5 - 8 for first sm wing.

Next Lg Wing:

Row 4) Join thread to next unworked shell sp from last sm wing worked with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, shell in 2nd ch of next sp (center ch), shell in next shell sp: 3 shells.

Rows 5-10) Rep rows 5 - 10 for first lg wing.

Chain:

Row 1) Working bet the sm wings, join thread to 2nd dc of first shell with a sl st; ch 50, sl st in 10th from hook (loop made for tassel) and in each ch across; join with a sl st in next dc. Fasten off; secure ends.

Tassel:

Wrap thread around 4 fingers several times, cut end, then pull looped strands from fingers. Clip through one side of grouped strands. Fold strands and using a larger hook, pull the fold partially through the lp made on chain. Pull loose ends through the fold and cinch down. Trim ends.
