Butterfly:
Rnd 1) Starting
at center of butterfly: Ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped
count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4): 12 dc.
Rnd 2) Beg double
shell in joining see special sts, sk next 2 dc; * double shell in next dc see
special sts, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to
first dc of shell: 4 double shells.
Rnd 3) Sl st in
first ch 2 sp of double shell; beg shell in same sp see special sts, ch 3,
shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell see special sts; * shell in next ch
2 sp of next double shell, ch 3, shell in next ch 2 sp of same double shell;
rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 8 shells/4 ch 3-sps.
Fasten off; secure ends
Lg Wing:
Row 4) Working off each wing separately: join
thread to next unworked shell sp before a ch 3 sp with a sl st; beg shell in

Rows 5-10) Rep
rows 5 - 10 for first lg wing.
Chain:
Row 1) Working
bet the sm wings, join thread to 2nd dc of first shell with a sl st; ch 50, sl
st in 10th from hook (loop made for tassel) and in each ch across; join with a
sl st in next dc. Fasten off; secure ends.
Tassel:
Wrap thread around 4 fingers several times, cut end, then
pull looped strands from fingers. Clip through one side of grouped strands.
Fold strands and using a larger hook, pull the fold partially through the lp
made on chain. Pull loose ends through the fold and cinch down. Trim ends.
