Hot Pad:

Rnd 1) With CC, ch 4, (12 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4) dropping old color behind and picking up new color (white): 13 dc.

Rnd 2) With white ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), dc in joining, ch 8; * (2 dc) in next dc, ch 8; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc, dropping old color behind and picking up new color (CC): 26 dc/13 loops.

Rnd 3) With CC, ch 3, dc in joining, dc in next dc, ch 8; * (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 8; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc, dropping old color behind and picking up new color (white): 39 dc.

Rnd 4) With white, ch 3, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 8; * dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 8; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc, dropping old color behind and picking up new color (CC): 52 dc.

Rnd 5) With CC, ch 3, dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 8; * dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 8; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc, dropping old color behind and picking up new color (white): 65 dc.

Rnd 6) With white, ch 3, dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next dc, (pull second loop from Rnd 3 through first loop from Rnd 2, pull third loop from Rnd 4 through second loop from Rnd 3, pull fourth loop from Rnd 5 through third loop from Rnd 4) creating a chain effect of pulling the loop from the next round through the loop of previous round; sc over center of last loop (fourth loop); * dc in next 2 dc, (2 dc) in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, rep procedure of pulling loops one through another, sc over center of last loop (fourth loop); rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 78 dc. Fasten off, secure ends.

Handle: (Using CC)

join yarn to any sc on rnd 6 with a sl st; ch 1, sc in next 3 dc, ch 8, sc in next 3 dc, sl st in next sc. Fasten off, secure ends.
