Materials:
Sm ball 100% cotton thread, size 10 (variegated pastel)
Steel crochet hook size 8 USA (1.50 mm)

Finished Size: 10 1/2" dia
Gauge: 2 rows = 1/2"

Skill Level: Intermediate

Special Stitches:
Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Beg Shell: (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Beg Double Shell: (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Double Shell: (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in indicated st.

Beg 6 dc Cluster: ch 2, (yo, insert hook in indicated st, pull up a lp, yo, draw through 2 lps on hook) as many times as stated, yo, draw through all lps on hook to complete the st.

Ch 8; join with a sl st in first ch to form a ring.

Rnd 1) Ch 3 (counts as first dc); (23 dc) in ring; join with a sl st to first dc (3rd ch of beg ch 3): 24 dc.

Rnd 2) Beg shell in joining see special sts, sk next 2 dc; * shell in next dc see special sts, sk next 2 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 8 shells.

Rnd 3) Sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, ch 3; * shell in next shell sp, ch 3; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 8 shells/8 ch 3-sps.

Rnd 4) Sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, ch 5; * shell in next shell sp, ch 5; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of shell: 8 shells/8 ch 5-sps.

Rnd 5) Sl st in shell sp; beg double shell in same sp see special sts, ch 5; * double shell in next shell sp see special sts, ch 5; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc of double shell: 8 double shells/8 ch 5-sps.

Row 9) Working off each pineapple separately: sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, ch 3, dc in next trc, (ch 1, dc in next trc) 7 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 8 dc & 7 ch 1-sps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 10) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 1 sp) 7 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 6 ch 3-lps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 11) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, sk next ch 3 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 lp) 6 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 5 ch 3-lps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 12) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, sk next ch 3 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 lp) 5 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 4 ch 3-lps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 13) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, sk next ch 3 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 lp) 4 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 3 ch 3-lps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 14) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, sk next ch 3 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 lp) 3 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 2 ch 3-lps/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 15) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, sk next ch 3 sp, (ch 3, sc in next ch 3 lp) twice, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 1 ch 3-lp/2 ch 3-sps.

Row 16) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, sk next ch 3 sp, ch 3, sc in last ch 3 lp, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/2 ch 3-sps/1 pineapple.

Row 17) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg shell in same sp, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple.

Row 18) Ch 2, turn work, sl st in shell sp; beg 6 dc cluster working 3 sts in first shell sp and last 3 sts in last shell sp see special sts: 1 cluster/1 complete pineapple. Fasten off; secure ends.

Rem Seven Pineapples:

Row 9) Join thread to next unworked shell sp on rnd 8 from where last pineapple is worked with a sl st; beg shell in same sp, ch 3, dc in next trc, (ch 1, dc in next trc) 7 times, ch 3, shell in next shell sp: 2 shells/1 pineapple with 8 dc & 7 ch 1-sps/2 ch 3-sps.

Rows 10-18) Rep rows 10-18.

Continue until all seven pineapples have been worked off.

Finishing:

Spray doily with water or spray starch, if desired and shape on a terry towel to dry.
