Coaster: (Using
color A)
Rnd 1) Starting
flower center: ch 4; (11 dc) in 4th ch from hook (first 3 chs skipped count as
first dc); join with a sl st to first dc (4th ch of beg ch 4): 12 dc.
Rnd 2) Ch 3, dc
in joining; * (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first
dc: 24 dc.
Rnd 3) Ch 3, (2
dc) in next dc; * dc in next dc, (2 dc) in next dc; rep from * around; join
with a sl st to first dc: 36 dc. Fasten off Color A.
Rnd 4) Starting petals: join Color B to any dc
on last rnd with a sl st; ch 3, (4 dc) in joining, sk next 3 dc; * (5 dc) in
next dc, sk next 3 dc; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first dc: 9
petals/45 dc.
Rnd 5) Ch 1, sc
in joining, sk next dc, (5 dc) in next dc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sl st bet
petals, sl st in first dc of next petal; * ch 1, sc in same st, sk next dc, (5
dc) in next dc, sk next dc, sc in next dc, sl st bet petals, sl st in first dc

Finishing:
Spray coaster with water or spray starch, if desired and
shape on a terry towel. Turn ends of petals up and let dry.
Options:
Work up several of these in different colors for each place
setting. Or for drama and fun, work up a variety of colors, insert skewers through centers of each coaster. Insert the skewers into a clay pot for a centerpiece!
