What is a ESC? your directions are not clear for this stitch, if I know what it's called I can look up better directions

Hi Anna, I looked up at the top portion of the pattern, with abbreviations filled in, however, and it says:

Special Stitches:

Fpdc: insert hook from front to back, around the dc post, and back to the front, complete dc st as usual.

Esc: insert hook in next stitch, pull up a loop, (yarn over, draw through one loop) twice to complete the stitch.

Hope this helps.

escallop? the "esc" stitch leaves 2 loops on the hook - is that correct?
images would be helpful. tx...ae :)

Hi ladies,

I have not been using this blog after I could no longer add more categories. I haven't edited or added any more patterns to the site either.

For this basket:

Fpdc: insert hook from front to back, around the dc post, and back to the front, complete dc st as usual.

Esc: insert hook in next st, pull up a lp, (yo, draw through one lp) twice to complete the st.

When working an extended single crochet in the manner I have for the basket, it will appear like a V-st in the photo but it's not.

Hope this helps and if you'd like to visit my new blog it's located at:

Thanks,
Cylinda

Hello. I know this is a really old post but I'm hoping someone is watching for comments at least. I'm very lost on making the handle of the basket. Specifically, where each of the back loop sc are placed. I wish there were better pictures or some sort of idea on what stitch this is as I cannot for the life of me figure out where the rows go for the basket handle. Any help with this part would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am totally lost on the handle as well. I have tried several times, each a different way, and nothing looks like the picture.O wish the directions were clearer and more pictures that are close ups so we can see more clearly.
